A Brief History of Our Church:

Our Church History_0001.jpg (151161 bytes)
1878-1909

1909-present

T
he Bridgeville UMC held it’s first worship service back in 1878 with twelve founding members. As our ministry we grew we held services throughout the Bridgeville area until we began an exciting year of ministry in our new church building on January 1, 1887 (currently the site of St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church of Holy Child Parish). God blessed us and we quickly outgrew this beautiful building. In October of 1909 we began worshipping and ministering to the community from our present location on Station Street in Bridgeville, Pennsylvania. Since then, God's blessings have been wonderful as we have sought to faithfully share His Word within the Bridgeville community and throughout the world. We are currently in the midst of celebrating 125 years of continuous ministry. Praise God!

What We Do:

Worship is a paramount to our understanding of faith.  Beyond the opportunity to gather in worship and praise, First United Methodist Church helps people along their spiritual journey of the  mind, body and spirit.

Looking Forward:

Mission Statement

First United Methodist Church of Bridgeville exists as a loving family united by our commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, we seek to share God’s glory and love by nurturing the spiritual growth and physical well-being of others and ourselves through prayer, worship, fellowship, and Christian community service.

Vision Statement

Our vision calls us to spread the Good News of God’s glory and love by:

· Working together in the Spirit of Christ to help humanity regardless of differences.

· Stressing the importance of giving our time, our talents, and our tithe as an expression of our thanks to God.

· Enlivening and enlarging the spirit and membership of our church family through creative worship and programming.
