A Place for You

The Outreach team at First United Methodist Church of Bridgeville is a small group dedicated to big ideas. It is our mission to "go out and make disciples," to share the love of God and the Good News of Jesus Christ. with those who do not know Him.
We focus on serving the needs of our community; locally, regionally, and globally, with several ongoing projects:

We create flood buckets throughout the year so they can be ready to send to those who need them. Cleaning supplies are assembled and packed in 5-gallon buckets and then sent to locations in need.

We support the "Nothing but Nets" campaign to bring insecticide-treated bed nets to families in Africa. This is a global United Methodist Church initiative with the NBA, Sports Illustrated, and others, to stop the spread of malaria by preventing mosquitoes from biting. In 2008, we held the second annual "Nothing But Nets" Hoop Shoot at Bridgeville Community Days. We funded 25 nets.

Since 2005, we have held our Pumpkin Patch in October. Our pumpkins come from farmers in New Mexico and end up with families all around Bridgeville. While we are "working the patch" we have a wonderful opportunity to tell local residents about our church family and the various ministries at First United Methodist Church of Bridgeville. This is also a great time of fellowship with each other.

100% of our proceeds are designated to helping survivors of flooding through the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) and towards our own mission projects.

In April of 2008, several of our members traveled to Pascagoula, Mississippi to continue the rebuilding efforts on the Gulf Coast. We were excited to join other United Methodist volunteers from around Western Pa.  Where will we go next? Wherever God calls us to go!

There are many other Outreach opportunities, many ways we can enrich the lives of others and spread the love and message of our Lord.

The Bridgeville Community participates in the local Food Bank. It is held at the Bethany Presbyterian church, the 3rd Saturday of the month at 10am.  If you have questions or would like to volunteer, please contact, co-ordinator of the Food Bank, Tim Anderson, 412-257-0813.
